Project: Get Abs Back (Day 1)

This is what my abs looked like 6 years ago… 

This is what they look like now. I’m determined to get them back to their previous state or BETTER!

I found a 10 minute ab workout video on Youtube that I will start off with. If I do this work out every other day ( along with step practice & pole fitness), I’ll be back to sexy abs in no time. I just have to be dedicated to this workout…that’s the hard part!!! I’m going to document my journey and see how it goes. 


Semester Wrap Up

I must say that I’ve really enjoyed my WRIT 2133 class. Dr. Ruefman was an amazing professor. He was really interested in the course, which made the students interested.

My favorite project in this class was the development of my online persona. Learning the do’s and don’ts of how you portray yourself online was very interesting. But, putting together my own site about me was even more exciting. It’s something that I can continuously update and take with me after this course.

I’m kind of sad the semester is over. I liked comeing to this class every other morning. = )

BP & the Gulf Oil Spill

BP has gotten a lot of flack for their dealings the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. It seemed as if the company did not want to take responsibility for the accident. Yes they are cleaning it up and offering those affected by the spill compensation, but many believe BP had its own self interest in mind.

 BP tried to bribe residents of the Gulf with $5,000 to refrain from sueing. Also, the company lied about the severity of the spill, saying that the rig was leaking 1,000 barrels a day when the actual amount was 5,000 barrels a day.

A former BP oil spill clean up worker blew the whistle on a Pensacola clean up site. Candi Warren stated that they were not allowed to dig below the surface of the beaches. Their clean up was just for cosmetic purposes, to make condo owners and touist think that beach was oil free. But in all actuality at night the tide cycles would leave a layer of oil on the beach and when the next tide came the oil would be covered by a few inches of sand. The next morning the clean up workers would be instructed to only clean up the tar bars and oil visible to the eye.

It looks like BP was only doing things that would make the company look better in the eyes of consumers, but as the truth came out time and time again it only looked worse.

Domino’s Turn Around Campaign

I think that Domino’s has come a long way in the past year. It’s “New Inspired Pizza” campaign is one of the best campaigns to date. The company had a problem selling pizzas and keeping a good image with customers. The economy failing had a large part to do with a decrease in pizza sales, but Domino’s also ranked last in the taste category. Another thing that really damged Dominos’ image was a youtube video of two employees contaminating food and then sending it out for delivery.

In December 2009 the Domino’s “Turn Around” campaign introduced the new inspired pizza. It canned its nearly 50 year old recipe, and after testing dozens of cheeses, 15 sauces and 50 crust seasoning blends, Domino’s relaunched the its pizza.

The company then went on a guerilla marketing frenzy, acknowledging that their pizza was not the best and proclaiming that it had a new and improved recipe that it was the best. The company is listening to the negative things that consumers have to say, and steadily fixing the issues. Domino’s had viral videos all over the internet of employees finding customers who had bad mouthed its original pizza and giving them the new pizza. The customers were shocked and loved the new pizza recipe, and declared that they would be buying Domino’s again. It has another commercial of consumers in a focus group saying that “Domino’s doesn’t want us to know where its ingredients come from.” The company then takes those individuals to the actual dairy where where its cheese is made.

I think it’s genius for Domino’s to basically say we know our pizza sucked and we are going to fix it. Reaching directly out to the consumers and non-believers was a great idea as well. The company has gained more customers by just being honest, and I really admired that.

Touch This

Computers and the internet have come a long ways. I remember our first family computer…it was a huge clunky beige machine. It only had a word processor, Organ Trail, Solitaire, and some other game.

Now everything is sleek, touch screen, and easy to use. The internet is super fast and can be accessed darn near anywhere. Everything is at the touch of out finger tips now.

I wonder what the next big thing will be…

Final Project Ideas

I want to design a press kit for Dyverzion Dance Team’s upcoming performance in the Doo-Dah step/dance competition at Georgia Southern University.

It will include:

  • flyer about the event
  • poster of the team (not sure what the text will say yet)
  • newsletter for the team (who they are, past shows, upcoming events…including doo-dah)
  • possibly a commercial

Publishing…What Is It?

    I think publishing is making information availble for public viewing. Not too long ago it just used to be in the form of print. But now, since computers and the internet have taken over the world, it’s become so mush more.

    In today’s digital age publishing entails using audio, video, and images to acompany the text. Publishing is very importatn in keeping the reader’s attention on the internet. People’s attention spans a fairly short, so the publisher has to make sure that the arrangement of the information pulls the reader in. Using sound and images is a great way to keep the reader focused.
